celery root and golden beets

Eeek, another late night with only minutes before the clock strikes twelve and the day’s gone with no NaBloPoMo post! Must. post. strange. veggies.

Above, freaky celery root and rusty-colored golden beets. Underappreciated vegetables. I’ll be back tomorrow with more information about these strange, delicious items and what to do to get acquainted with them.

ooh the celery root! i had an issue trying to make a puree once (http://perpetuallymaking.blogspot.com/2009/01/root-root-celery-root.html) and never quite got the right texture. hopefully you might be able to shed some light as to where i went wrong w/ this beauty of a root or provide an alternate way of cooking it.

love this blog! love the simple, clean and deliciousness of the recipes you provide!

I love using veggies I’m not familiar with! My CSA has been sending us Daikon Radishes. I share my CSA with a friend so she usually takes them but it’s fun to cook “outside of your comfort zone” so to speak!
